Reflective Safeguarding

CPD & Professional Supervision

Continuing learning and reflective support help practitioners remain competent, ethical, self-aware and appropriately bounded as their work develops.

In development — not yet open. Professional Membership is not currently accepting applications or admitting members, and no membership credential is being issued. These pages describe the intended standards.

1

Purpose

CPD and professional supervision are not exercises in collecting hours. They support safe practice, continuing competence, ethical judgment, practitioner self-awareness, recognition of bias, thoughtful work with complex cases, appropriate boundaries and use of power, and practitioner wellbeing.

2

Continuing professional development

Relevant CPD may include formal study, workshops, professional reading, case-based learning, ethics and safeguarding education, structured peer learning, reflective writing, and other learning that can be connected to the member’s scope and responsibilities.

Members should be able to explain what they learned and how it informed their practice, rather than relying on attendance alone.

3

Professional supervision and reflective practice

Supervision or structured reflective practice should provide a protected place to consider complexity, power, uncertainty, countertransference or personal response, boundaries, scope, referral and the effects of the work on the practitioner.

The arrangement must be appropriate to the member’s professional context and must preserve client privacy and lawful confidentiality.

4

Records and evidence

The Institute may require a concise annual record of activity, date, provider or reflective partner, learning purpose and relevance to practice. Client-identifying information must not be included in CPD or supervision evidence supplied to the Institute.

5

Requirements under development

Annual CPD hours: to be confirmed by Spirit Led Institute.

Supervision frequency: to be confirmed by Spirit Led Institute.

Eligible supervisor criteria and evidence requirements: to be confirmed by Spirit Led Institute.

Final requirements will be published before they become a condition of renewal.
