Many parents carry guilt for things they did, things they didn't do, and things that were never in their control at all. This self-paced course helps adults gently sort what happened — illness and genetic inheritance, difficult births, disability and caring, divorce and family circumstances, accidents and bereavement, adult children and estrangement, and harm a parent caused — and decide what belongs to them, what never did, and what they can finally put down.
Each of the ten core modules includes substantive teaching, a clearly labelled fictional composite case study, optional reflective prompts, a private exercise to complete in your own journal, and a short, non-judgmental knowledge check. One optional Christian faith module reads John 9:1–3, Proverbs 20:11, Ezekiel 18:20 and Genesis 2:24 carefully in context, without pressure to reconcile.
The course is disability-affirming, trauma-informed and non-coercive. It never minimises harm: where a parent caused harm, it focuses on real accountability, children's safety and autonomy, and specialist support. Children's current safety always comes first.
Reflections are optional and are never saved or sent to the Institute. A non-accredited Certificate of Completion records course completion only and does not assess or certify parenting capacity or fitness to parent.
This is education, not therapy, counselling, medical or legal advice, a parenting assessment or crisis support. Australian support and child protection contacts are included.
